You may not think that the logical place for a French fragrance house to make a new home would be Palm Beach, but for Ben Krigler, of Krigler fine fragrances, a flagship in the American Riviera was move that nodded to his company-and his family's-heritage.

The maker of fine perfumes beloved by icons such as Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Ernest Hemingway, and Cary Grant-not to mention both John F. Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy Onassis-Krigler has a long heritage of crafting luxury scents. The founder of the house, Albert Krigler, first learned perfumery in Russia, at Rallet in the 19th century, before founding his own operation in 1904 and promptly moving to Berlin where the house grew. From there, the family moved to France, where their operations are based today.

But back in the 1930's, the Krigler family began vacationing in Palm Beach, eventually selling their fragrances from the Royal Poinciana. Flash forward to 2019, and the current doyen of the family business, Ben, has made his triumphant return to the chi-chi vacation spot.

Nestled in the newly renovated Four Seasons Palm Beach (by interior architect Martin Brudnizki), whose floors alternate ice-cream hues of pistachio and strawberry, is an antique gold boutique filled with reflective surfaces and la belle époque decor-and the heavenly perfumes and candles that have long been under-the-radar A-list favorites. In the words of Krigler himself, it is the ultimate luxury cabana.

"At Krigler, we pride ourselves in our discreet preservation of our product heritage, as well as respect for our A-list clientele," says Ben, who adds that Palm Beach is home to an important share of their loyal customer-following. "This is the perfect spot to be: the meeting point of our brand culture and heritage."

A huge part of that heritage is crafting bespoke perfumes and fragrances that can run clients upwards of $50,000 a piece. Unique to the Krigler Atelier at the Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach is an additional bespoke service: custom-made scented candles in handmade glass jars that the clients can have refilled.

For a custom-scented candle, the entire process takes up to three weeks. Bespoke perfumes, however, take around 9 months to complete, but the actual process can be started at the Palm Beach Atelier. And unlike the flagship at the Plaza, there will be an additional engraving service available for the scented candles, as well as the fragrances.

But for guests of the resort who don't venture past the atelier, there are still multiple opportunities to interact with Krigler. Not only will they offer a fragrance testing service at the beach, guests can also begin the process of crafting a bespoke fragrance in their suite. Come June, Krigler will also be launching a scent exclusive to-and inspired by-the beach town.

The Krigler Atelier is open 7 days a week from 10 A.M. to 7 P.M. at the Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach.
