How Hermès Puts on a Horse Show
Now in its 49th year, the American Gold Cup horse show returned to Old Salem Farm in New York this past weekend. On Saturday, Molly Ashe Cawley took the top spot in the $35,000 Hermès Sellier Cup; the French lxuury goods label has long been a sponsor. McLain Ward successfully defended his title in the $71,200 Fidelity Investments Classic that afternoon, and on Sunday Beezie Madden won the $210,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup. Beezie Madden, Karl Cook, and Katie Dinan took the top three spots, respectively, in the $210,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup on Sunday.
Dinan, whose family lives in North Salem, said that Old Salem Farm was the site of her first horse show.

"Competing at the American Gold Cup is always a highlight of my year," Deslauriers said. "With the venue being located just outside of New York City, my friends and family often come to watch and support, so it makes each event I compete in there a bit more special."

The Hermès Chalet overlooked the grand prix ring.
"Sellier" translates to "saddler." Hermès began as a harness workshop in Paris, so it has deep ties to the equestrian world.
The brand recently debuted its new Vivace Saddle.
Master saddler Laurent Goblet designed the new saddle to prioritize contact between the rider and the horse. Each one is custom-made and fitted to the horse who will ultimately wear it. Polle said it was the most comfortable saddle she had ever used: "You just feel like you’re part of the horse, and I think that’s essential to the sport. The closer and more together you can be with the horse, the better."
The brand had various equestrian items and garments for sale.
Ties and bracelets were also displayed.
