Hip-hop-themed Cookie Plug brings new flavor to Germantown. Here's what's on the menu.

A Memphis couple is bringing a hip-hop-themed cookie shop to Germantown.

Nathalie and Hector Garcia opened Cookie Plug Germantown on Saturday, June 15, at 7685 Farmington Blvd., Suite 104. The cookie shop offers a slew of different flavors. The cookies are made with part cake, part brownie and part cookie, all rolled into one thick stack.

The Germantown shop is the Memphis area's first Cookie Plug location.

Cookies on the menu include the smores cookie (Firecracker Cookie), sugar cookie (Pixie Junkie Cookie), chocolate chip cookie (O.G. Cookie), chocolate chip walnut cookie (Nutty O.G. Cookie), purple cookie with white chocolate chips (Purple Haze Cookie) and other treats such as the cookies with ice cream and custom cookie cakes.

“We wanted to bring something different to Memphis,” the Garcias said in a news release. “Cookie Plug symbolizes hip-hop and culture in a way that’s approachable and enjoyable for everyone. It’s a place where people can come together, enjoy incredible cookies, and appreciate the art and music that shape our community.”

Who are the local franchise owners of Cookie Plug?

The Garcias, along with their 11-year-old daughter, Bella, are rooted in the local Hispanic community. A unique feature inside the Cookie Plug Germantown will be the custom graffiti wall with the flags of Puerto Rico, Cuba and Mexico to reflect the family’s Hispanic heritage. Hector Garcia said the motivation for becoming entrepreneurs is to pass down a family legacy.

“This is about building something for Bella,” he said. “We want her to grow up surrounded by the culture we love and to understand the importance of celebrating our heritage.”
