Hoda Kotb Gets Candid About Becoming a Mom of Two Daughters
In a new interview with People, Today show co-host Hoda opens up about the adjustments she's had to make since adopting her second baby, Hope Catherine.
“I forgot everything!” she joked, adding that this experience feels different from when she adopted her oldest daughter, Haley Joy.
Hoda Kotb has revealed just how much her life has transformed since adopting her second baby girl, Hope Catherine. The Today show co-host announced in April (on live TV, by the way!) that she and partner Joel Schiffman decided to expand their family.
“I forgot everything!” Kotb told People. “I was like, ‘How do you hold the baby? How do you feed a baby? How do you swaddle?’ I was googling swaddling and-you’re not going to believe this-how to put on pajamas.”
Despite feeling like she’s forgotten everything she knew about parenting, Kotb added that the experience has been nothing but a delight. “I just can’t believe how in a blink, life changes, and all of a sudden there are two babies in this house. I’m just overwhelmed with joy,” she added.
Kotb adopted her now 2-year-old daughter Haley Joy in 2017 with Schiffman. When she announced Hope’s adoption last month, she shared some incredibly sweet details of how Haley is adjusting to being a big sister.
"She literally walked up to her and looked at her and goes, ‘Hope,’” Kotb recalled. “It was, like, one of those moments… She was literally marching around saying, ‘I’m a big sister.’”
During the announcement, Kotb also shared more details of how she felt when she held Hope for the first time. "You know what's funny? You think that you're full,'' she said. "That's exactly how I felt with Haley and Joel and everything. Joel and I were standing there when they hand you the baby, and it's the closest thing to a live birth you'll ever see, but in that moment I was like, 'Oh my God, my heart just grew.'"
Such an adorable family!
