From the looks of it, Hoda Kotb is getting her groove back!
The Today star has opened up in the past about certain aspects of her love life and experiences in previous relationships, and now, she's sharing that she's stepping back out into the dating world.
During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, which was shared via YouTube on Tuesday, March 5, the mom of two divulged that she recently went on her first date in two years.
While sharing about her once-weekly day "that's totally and completely" for herself, "Thankful Thursday," she opened up about the rare occurrence, telling Kelly Clarkson, "But I do have to say, something did happen the other day that hasn't happened in two years."
"What?" the singer asked, to which Kotb quietly replied, "I had a date... I had a date!" The admission was met by audience applause, as well as praise from Clarkson, who admitted, "That's huge, even to be in a place to do that."
"You know what it was? Just a date. It was nothing but a date," the Hope Is a Rainbow author continued.
The longtime media professional was previously engaged to ex Joel Schiffman, with whom she shares her two daughters, Haley and Hope. Prior to that relationship, Kotb was married to former University of New Orleans tennis coach, Burzis Kanga from 2005 to 2008.
Immediately following the admission, Kotb diverted away from the spotlight being on her and began speaking life into Clarkson, who's also a mother of two, and recently went through a painful divorce of her own.
"I am really loving not having a man in my life," the songstress explained, before going into all the "too hard" complications relationships can tend to add in while a woman is attempting to maintain other areas of her life, such as a career and parenting.
But while the "Because of You" singer said she never thinks about going on dates—"not at all," actually, "not even a little bit"—Kotb found it an opportunity to tell Clarkson why she thinks she's so "amazing."
"You left your life that you had" and "brought those roots to NYC and stuck them in fertile ground. Look what has happened to you since you've moved here? Everything's changed," Hoda said. "You are flourishing in a way that I did not see all those years ago."
She then grabbed her hands and told her, "You are flourishing, my girl, and I'm so proud of you."
We love a good girl empowerment moment!
