Hoda Kotb Tears Up About Taylor Swift Song That Reminds Her of Daughter Hope
Taylor Swift and Hoda Kotb
In true Swiftie fashion, Hoda Kotb has a special connection to at least one Taylor Swift song—but her attachment to the tune may just be the sweetest one yet.
While chatting with sportscaster Erin Andrews for a recent episode of the podcast Making Space with Hoda Kotb, the 59-year-old Today co-anchor revealed that Swift's 2010 hit "Enchanted" brings her right back to the moment she first met her daughter Hope Catherine.
"I was with Hope yesterday, and you know that song 'Enchanted' by Taylor Swift?" she asked Andrews, 45, before quoting the lyrics, "So enchanted to meet you?"
"I'm looking at Hope, and she's looking at me, and the song comes on. And all of a sudden I get [choked up]," Kotb said.
Kotb recalled asking her 4-year-old, "Hope, you know what this reminded me of?" to which she replied, "Your eyes are wet!"
And understandably so, as Kotb went on, sharing that "enchanted" was the first word to come to mind the first time she got to hold her adopted daughter. "I go, 'Hopey, the first time you were placed in my arms I realized that was the word.'"
Kotb's touching story didn't stop there, as Hope inevitably asked for the definition of the word. Happy to oblige and expand her little one's vocabulary, Kotb sweetly explained, "I said, 'Enchanted means it's more than delighted—it's the biggest word.'"
Along with Hope, whom Kotb adopted in 2019, the media personality is also the mother of 6-year-old Haley Joy. Though Kotb is the first to brag about them—whether on her podcast, social media or the Today show—she has done her best to shield them from the public eye.
That said, the two girls recently made a special appearance on the NBC morning talk show alongside their cousins to help their mom gear up for Thanksgiving.
