The Hogwarts Express Is Now Running So Your Honeymoon Plans Have Changed

Now, you can start your journey to Hogwarts without having to start at Platform 9 3/4. Harry Potter enthusiasts (newlyweds, wedding party members alike and overall fans) will be thrilled to discover that the very same train to serve as the “Hogwarts Express” in the beloved film franchise is now offering a service through the countryside.

Starting this month, the steam train will pick up passengers from the countryside, traveling alongside a route that’s rather familiar to viewers (because it appeared in the movies). The engine, called the Jacobite steam train, will journey from Fort William all the way to Mallaig throughout the Scottish countryside. It will make the same journey twice a day starting in May, running all the way through October.

The beautiful and scenic ride will cross the Glenfinnan Viaduct and other lochs with stops along the way at a variety of familiar filming locations, such as Glencoe. (This quaint town served as the entryway of Hogwarts and the home for Hagrid.)

The best part about the entire journey is that it can supplement your U.K. honeymoon or bachelorette party for a relatively affordable cost, set at only $50 for adults.

For true fans of J.K. Rowling’s franchise, another added benefit to this journey is that it isn’t supplemented by unexpected, unpleasant visits from swooping dementors. Plus, if you’re already planning for a U.K. bachelorette party trip, the photo content is assured to be a wizarding dream for your bridesmaids and best friends.

This isn’t the only Harry Potter-inspired travel option: Barge Lady Cruises also offers a Harry Potter-inspired river cruise for the true fanatics who want to set sail along the River Thames.
