Holiday's hottest toy? Fingerlings are back with ‘super duper soft’ monkey that hugs, kisses, and, um, farts
You probably remember WowWee Fingerlings, the finger-hugging toys that became a massive craze around the holidays last year — and were pretty much impossible to find past December. Well, this year, kids are going crazy for Fingerlings HUGS — huge, interactive, cuddly versions of last year’s sold-out phenomenon.
HUGS, which are next-level stuffed animals with long, huggable arms, have all kinds of silly reactions. They dole out kisses, say “whee!” when they’re having fun, and repeat what kids say. They also sleep, pass gas, and do more than 40 other things. It’s pretty much guaranteed that kids will have the best time playing with these lovable giants.
The toys come in pink or blue; Pink is named Bella and blue is named Boris. Worth pointing out: Fingerlings HUGS are on Walmart’s top 40 toy list — an elite group of the season’s most wanted toys picked by hundreds of kids and road-tested by 25 toy experts — and they’re just $24.72 at Walmart.com.
Kids are pretty much freaking out over these toys online.
“I have to admit that I’m enjoying the record feature a little too much!” wrote Becky, aka Cuddle Fairy, with 43K followers on Instagram. “You hold her ear, speak then Bella repeats what you said. I sang The Fresh Prince theme song while waiting for the boy’s bus. It was epic.”

Toy Daycare, with 124K subscribers on Youtube, loved the long arms that you can clap together and yup, the ability to get hands-free hugs. Fingerlings HUGS also are “super duper soft,” Mama Z said. And, when you shake them up and down, they make adorable monkey noises. The farting feature also got plenty of laughs.
The Velcro/hands-free option is a big plus for Cathleen of Cathleen’s Toy Reviews. The kissing feature also seems to be a huge perk. HUGS have a lip sensor and will make a kissy noise for as long as you keep your lips, hands, or cheeks in front of it, Cathleen points out.
Again, each Fingerling HUGS is under $30 at Walmart, which is pretty impressive for a toy that does all this. And, given how big of a hit this has been with reviewers, you might want to start shopping for one now. We have a feeling these could be sold out closer to the holidays.
