Holmes County District Public Library offering up some epic adventures in July
The following are programs are offered in July at the Holmes County District Public Library. For more information or to register visit the library or call 330-674-5972.
Adventure Begins at Your Library! Summer reading program through July 20. There is still time to sign up to explore summer reading programs for all ages, along with chances to win some prizes. Visit the Central Library or East Branch to register. Completed reading logs are due at the library by Saturday, July 20.
Adventures with STEAM at the Central Library, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday. For elementary-age kids and older. They will create a hovercraft and build a robo-wheel. Participants will receive a COSI Water Kit.
Epic Adventures at the East Branch, 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, July 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. Kids of all ages are invited to join for stories and activities.
Storytimes at the Central Library, 10:30 a.m. Fridays, July 5, 12, 19 and 26. Kids ages 2-5, with an adult, are invited to join for stories, songs and rhymes.
Little Learners Playgroup at the Central Library, 11 a.m. Fridays, July 5, 12, 19 and 26. Kids up to age 5, with an adult, will engage in activities to promote reading and social skills. Snacks will be provided.
Build a Survival Bag at the Central Library – 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 9. Teens will be ready for an emergency as they put together a survival bag that will include a compass, emergency blanket and other needed items. Registration is required.
Outdoor Adventures – Let’s Play Outside! at the Central Library – 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10. Kids of all ages and their families will enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, including water activities, bubbles and yard games. Snacks will be provided.
Paws to Read at the Central Library – 11 a.m. - noon, Saturday, July 13. Kids are invited to read to a certified therapy dog from Caring Therapy Canines.
I’d Like to Be Published … Now What? at the Central Library – 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 15. Many have an idea for a book, or may even have a completed manuscript, but, now what? Join author and editor Paul (Kent) Muckley for an overview of the publishing options and processes.
NERF Night at the Central Library – 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16.Youth ages 7-12, ready the blaster, label the darts and join for NERF games. Participants can enter a drawing for a NERF Blaster. Registration and permission slips are required. Permission slips can be picked up at the Central Library.
Book Discussion for Adults – 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at the Central Library. Discussing “The Berry Pickers” by Amanda Peters, and at 6 p.m. at Jitters Coffee House discussing“All the Broken Places” by John Boyne.
