Holy Talking Animals! The First Full-Length ‘Lion King’ Trailer Is Here, and the Nostalgia Is Real, Folks
Can you feel the love tonight? Because all we can feel are the goosebumps from seeing Disney’s brand-new The Lion King trailer, where we finally get a glimpse of the CGI talking animals.
The trailer brings back all the Disney movie nostalgia, but with the most mind-blowing animation. We have to admit: Seeing Scar’s lips move was sorta weird at first, but it didn’t matter. The trailer will make you want to blast “Circle of Life” on repeat All. Day. Long.
And for those, like us, who wondered whether Beyoncé voicing Nala gets a sound bite…well, not yet. But we’re sure more trailers will come soon, and we can’t wait. We do get a good glimpse of the evil (and mangy-looking) Scar; young, teenage and adult Simba; Mufasa; Rafiki; Zazu; Azizi and Nala. And don’t you dare close out before the voice-acting credits, because Pumbaa and Timon make their grand singing appearance at the very end (and it’s going to be awhile before “a-weema-weh” is out of our head).
The reboot of Disney’s 1994 classic is directed by Jon Favreau and stars Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, John Oliver as Zazu, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar and more.
The Lion King roars into theaters in just three short months, on July 19, 2019.
