'Home Town' Stars Erin and Ben Napier Reveal the Worst Part About Fame
Home Town stars Erin and Ben Napier never planned to be famous. Even though they front one of HGTV's most popular shows, they remain grounded. Erin, for one, announced last month that she was going to spend less time on social media.
"The more I learn about social media, the more it frightens me," she wrote on Instagram at the time. "So I’m going to make an effort to spend less time here. People weren’t built to know the opinions of thousands or even hundreds of their 'friends.' The real world is a much nicer place, honestly."
In a recent interview, the Napiers revealed the worst part about fame: protecting their young daughter from it.
“The worst part of fame is finding ways to keep Helen protected from it,” Ben told Atlanta magazine. “When we go out as a family, making sure people don’t try to take her photo is tricky. We’re very grateful people love the show and are excited to see us, but we also have to remember Helen didn’t sign up for this.”
“We know we can’t give Helen the childhood we had because of our careers and how our lives have changed,” Ben added. “But regardless, we want to provide her with a loving set of parents who are present and protect her.”
One way the Napiers prioritize Helen? They know how to say an important word: "No."
“Work is never more important than Helen,” Erin told the magazine.
