SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The hospitality crew helps provide cowboys and cowgirls with a delicious homecooked meal before their performances at the San Angelo Rodeo.

The hospitality crew starts the week before the rodeo kicks off by stocking the room and buying groceries to prepare for the weeks ahead. They start providing meals to cowboys and cowgirls the week of slack, ensuring they are fed before they head into the arena.

Joyce Baker, a crew member who has been with the hospitality room for 14 years, shared that most of the competitors are young enough to be their grandchildren, so they want to make sure they have what they would get at home while at the San Angelo Rodeo.

“Instead, we know on the road that fast food, whatever they got so when they come in here they get a homecooked meal that we cook right here,” Baker said.

The crew makes a meal before every performance and dishes out the leftovers before Sunday’s performances.
