Host a Festive Mother's Day Brunch

BH&G Holiday Editors

Celebrate the moms in your life with a carefree brunch filled with bold color and delicious Mexican-inspired recipes. Food Network star Marcela Valladolid shares her tips and family recipes for the ultimate Mother's Day brunch. Hosting brunch is Marcela's favorite way to celebrate Mother's Day because it can start early and "last a really long time without anybody feeling guilty about it."

Picnic-Style Table

For a stress-free Mother's Day brunch, keep it casual. Create a picnic feel by setting a low table and surrounding it with cushions. Look for round wicker floor cushions online, or mix and match outdoor pillows. Set the stage with a neutral outdoor rug and hanging lanterns.

Colorful Linens

Marcela chooses colorful linens as a nod to her background. "I like to call it Mexican chic," she says. Get the look by topping colorful tablecloths or blankets with simple patterned white plates, a mix of colored glasses, and fresh flowers. Bring baskets of pastries and pitchers to the table so guests don't have to get up once they start eating.
