Hugh Grant's Red Carpet Interview With Ashley Graham Will Make You Cringe

The actor cut his interview short with dry British humor.

The 2023 Oscars is the biggest night in Hollywood, but Hugh Grant seemingly wasn't too happy to be there.

In a painfully awkward red carpet interview with Ashley Graham, the British actor didn't want to play along.

"You're a veteran of the Oscars and have been here a few times. What's your favorite thing about coming to the Oscars?" Graham asked Grant.

Grant was stumped, and after stammering for a few seconds, answered. "It's fascinating. It's…erm…the whole of humanity is here," he said, visibly looking uncomfortable.

"It's vanity fair," he added, poking fun at the award show. Graham did damage control, acting like he was speaking in reference of the magazine's big afterparty, rather than the ceremony itself.

The supermodel then asked him what he was "most excited to see" during the ceremony. Which again confused the actor, who responded: "To see?"

Graham gently prodded him, wondering if there was a particular film or person he was rooting for.

"Not…no one in particular," he admitted.

When the interaction couldn't give more secondhand cringe, it somehow got more uncomfortable.

Graham, trying to find more to ask the actor, asked the age-old Oscars question: "What are you wearing tonight?"

Grant went for some dry British humor, responding, "Just my suit."

"Your suit? Who made it? You didn't make it," Graham quipped. Grant gave another sarcastic answer: "My tailor."

Graham decided to give up when asking her final question, about what it was like to appear in the Knives Out sequel Glass Onion in a surprise cameo, to which Grant pointed out that he's only in the movie for "3 seconds."

"And you had fun, right?" she asked.

"Um…almost," responded the actor.

Fans who watched the interaction took to social media to call out the rom-com king. You can see their responses below:

Perhaps next year Grant will forego the red carpet altogether.
