Hugh Jackman Goes for a Swim in the Ocean in Preparation for Wolverine Role
The actor is reprising his iconic Marvel role for the upcoming film 'Deadpool 3.'
Hugh Jackman has proven time and time again that he knows what he's doing when it comes to bulking up for a role. So once it was announced that he would be returning to play Wolverine in the upcoming film Deadpool 3 with Ryan Reynolds, fans knew what to expect from the star.
This time around, he's sharing an inside look at how he prepares to bring Wolverine to life again, which includes swimming in the cold ocean by himself.
Jackman posted a video of his most recent dip into the ocean on Instagram, captioning it, "Sleep. Train. Eat. Recover. Repeat. #becomingwolverineagain."
He hypes himself up in the clip, first showing off his muscles to the camera. Then, as he hops over the rocks into the water, he can be heard saying, "Oh, yeah," a few times to keep up the energy.
In the video, Jackman just sits in the water for a few moments before dipping his head under, and once he gets out of the ocean, he's clearly all red from the cold.
Fans also worked hard to champion the actor in the comments, as one wrote, "From The Music Man to Wolverine who does that??!! Our beloved Hugh Jackman that’s who!! ??????."
"Hugh is becoming wolverine again! He is legend ??," wrote another.
It's unclear exactly why a swim in the ocean is a part of his routine, but it's probably a good way to shock him awake and reduce muscle pain.
Other celebrities have started going into their cold pool early in the morning as well for the "cold plunging" trend, as according to IPRS Health, it has many health benefits like activating endorphins, boosting your white blood count, and reducing stress, to name a few.
Jackman has spoken before about his training and how he bulks up for roles like Wolverine, including giving fans a detailed lookout what he eats.
He recently shared a photo of some of his meals lately, writing, "Bulking. A day in the life. Thank you Chef Mario for helping me stay healthy and properly fed whilst … Becoming. Wolverine. Again."
A few common foods seen in the photo are chicken, potatoes, steak, fish, rice, and noodles.
Despite all of his skill and preparation, some acting roles can be very taxing, and Jackman revealed recently that his history of growling and yelling to play Wolverine might've damaged his voice, particularly his falsetto.
But luckily, coming off The Music Man on Broadway, Jackman now has some good vocal training for how to shout and scream without doing further damage.
