Hulk Hogan Down 40 Pounds After Cutting Out Alcohol
Hulk Hogan's proud of his health journey.
While appearing on Men's Health's "Gym & Fridge" video series, the WWE icon detailed how much his diet has changed since retiring.
He noted that when he started out as a wrestler, he would eat "12 fried eggs in the morning, two hamburger patties, oatmeal, and everything would have butter on it." Hogan explained that because he was wrestling "like 400 times a year," he needed to bulk up and burn calories, so he ate a lot of protein.
However, at the time, he wasn't educated on "the quality of food and how much quantity" to eat. He also had a very unhealthy pre-match "meal" of choice: "three Miller Lites and two Tylenols." Then the post-match meal would be "probably 12 Miller Lites."
When asked if he still drinks the brand of beer, Hogan announced he doesn't drink alcohol anymore, and doesn't "do anything except drink really good water—Mountain Valley water in glass bottles." He shared he gave up drinking around six months prior to filming the video, because he "got tired of it."
"It got to be a way to kind of numb me a little bit, because I had a bunch of crazy business problems and personal stuff going on at the time and I caught myself after I would train getting too aggressive once again with the alcohol and I decided to stop," he added.
Hogan was then asked by Men's Health about his decision to lose 40 pounds, to which the pro wrestler explained that after his body began to deteriorate with nearly four decades of wrestling, needing multiple knee, hip, and back surgeries over a 10 to 12 year period, he realize he couldn't carry as much weight, especially not while being sedentary post-retirement.
The former Hogan Knows Best star initially announced his retirement in 2012, but has made several appearances on the WWE since.
