Hundreds of thousands of people sign up for Facebook event to storm Area 51 to 'see them aliens'
The highly classified Area 51, a United States Air Force facility, has long been the source of conspiracy theories and lore. The remote location in Nevada is supposedly where an alien spacecraft that crashed in Roswell, New Mexico is being stored and examined.
The government has long been tight-lipped about Area 51 and only confirmed its existence in 2013. Many are still curious why it was shrouded in secrecy for so long, and why so many UFOs have reportedly been spotted in the area.
Now, one tour group is determined to find answers — according to the Facebook event, by sheer force of numbers alone. Nearly 450,000 people have marked that they are going to an event on the social media site titled "Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us.”
"We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry," the detail of the event reads. On September 20, attendees are expected to meet at the Area 51 Alien Travel Center, a combination gift shop, gas station, restaurant and, since this is Nevada, a brothel.

"If we [Naruto] run, we can move faster than their bullets," the description continues, referencing the Japanese animation in which characters run with their hands and arms straight behind them, theoretically to reduce air resistance. "Lets see them aliens."
Social media users are already theorizing what they will see at the Air Force facility.

In a follow-up post, the organizer of the event, Jackson Barnes, clarified his intentions. "Hello US government, this is a joke, and I do not actually intend to go ahead with this plan," he wrote. "I just thought it would be funny and get me some thumbsy uppies on the internet. I'm not responsible if people decide to actually storm area 51."
