Hungry? Here are five spots for tasty chicken sandwiches at the Shore

Nothing beats a juicy chicken sandwich in the summer.

Burgers are great, of course, but that chicken breast dripping with ranch, buffalo dressing, or topped with lettuce, tomato and pickles could make anyone's mouth water.

And these Jersey Shore spots know how to make a good chicken sammie, whether it's piled high with hot honey and coleslaw, or classic fixins.

Buoy's, Manasquan

This sandwich is so good, they made it their namesake. Buoy's has a pretty small menu, but one of the options is The Buoy, a fried chicken sandwich with crispy garlic mayo, lettuce and pickles on a brioche bun.

The restaurant also offers The Drifter, with chipotle honey mustard, lettuce and pickles on a brioche; and a crispy chicken Caesar wrap. Fries can be added on to any sandwich for $5.

Go: 539 E. Main St.; buoysmanasquan.com.

Don't let the name fool you. Burger 25 locations may be burger royalty, but they know their stuff when it comes to chicken sandwiches. The Nash has hot sauce-tossed fried chicken, coleslaw, dill pickles and house made Southern Comeback sauce. Chicken and Waffles is fried chicken with Mike's Hot Honey and pickle chips sandwiched between two Belgian waffles.

If you're looking for something more classic, try the Kick'n Chicken with boom boom sauce, pickle chips, lettuce and tomato on a Martin's potato bun. Or go Italian(ish) with the Drunken Chicken Parm, with vodka sauce, fresh mozzarella and garlic butter on a Martin's bun.

Go: For Toms River, 199 Route 37 East; 732-270-0025. For Ship Bottom, 1915 Long Beach Blvd.; 609-879-2525, burger25.com.

Claudie's Chicken, which was formerly located in Red Bank, is an all around chicken shop. Whatever your chicken-craving heart desires, they've got it: wings dripping in bleu cheese, fried chicken buckets, chicken and barbecue rib value packs, and seafood chicken combos with fried shrimp.

But they are most well-known for their tantalizing sandwiches. Try the buffalo chicken with lettuce and choice of ranch or bleu cheese, or the Roman with roasted red peppers, mozzarella and balsamic dressing. There is also the Western, with lettuce, tomato, bacon, cheddar, barbecue sauce and optional coleslaw.

All sandwiches are available as wraps as well, and you can also build your own.

The Galley may have won Asbury Park Press' Pizza Playoff, but they make a mean chicken sandwich. Try a classic Nashville Hot Chicken with buttermilk brined organic Bell & Evans Cajun breaded chicken thigh, house made Nashville hot sauce, pickles, arugula, chili aioli and fries. Or go healthy with the grilled chicken sandwich with long hot pepper spread, lettuce and roasted red onion.

If you're looking for heat, try the Cranking Hot Chix Parm sandwich with roasted long hots, mozzarella and house made arrabbiata sauce, or the Kicked Up Chicken sandwich with chili aioli, Mike's Hot Honey and arugula tossed in red wine vinegar.
