I hiked uphill in the mud in these cushy Adidas kicks — and they're up to 60% off
Just like an excellent pair of sneakers can make a long run feel like an easy jog, a great pair of hiking boots can make your next trek on your favorite trail feel like light work. Unfortunately, most hiking shoes are a financial investment, and the name brand ones can easily cost hundreds — though if you find the one that best fits your activity level and your style, it's well worth the splurge. If you're still dipping your toes into the wonderful world of treks and trails, you're in luck: Adidas just marked down a pair over 60% off, and here's the kicker: Most sizes are still available.
Looking for other Adidas sneakers? A ton are on sale for up to 65% off through Saturday, December 9.
This lightweight trail shoe is perfect for runners and more casual hikers, plus these are designed to keep your feet dry even if there's a sudden downpour.
Why is this a good deal?
Spending under $100 on a name-brand pair of hiking shoes is pretty much unheard of — plus these, which ring in at under $70, are an absolute steal.
Why do I need this?
Before getting these, I was fully of the opinion that my wear-everywhere sneakers would be just fine on most hikes. That simply isn't the case; hiking shoes are designed to keep you balanced on uneven terrain plus they're made to withstand abrasions and whatever else Mother Nature decides to throw at you. The Adidas Terrex Soulstride have an aggressive tread on the sole, which provides traction on rocky and slippery terrain. Case in point: I wore these on a hike in upstate New York in the middle of a sudden shower. Not only did these keep my feet dry (thanks, water-resistant mesh), but they kept me from face-planting into a muddy puddle as I ambled my way uphill. As a person that trips over absolutely nothing on perfectly sunny days, that is high praise.
The Terrex Soulstride don't skimp on support: They're sturdy and keep my foot in place, but they're not constricting, either. They offer a bit of bend, plus the plush sole provides plenty of cushioning. In short: By the end of our hillside hike, my partner's feet were absolutely screaming; mine weren't mad at all.
They're pretty cute, too: They're low profile, so if you're not ready to commit to a dedicated hiking shoe, these offer a middle ground between sneaker and boot. A bright sole and colorful accents dress up these fab kicks, too, because where there's function, there's also a whole lot of beauty.
What reviewers say
Reviewers love these almost as much as I do. Shared one thrilled marathoner:
"Really good shoes [for] trails...even with swollen feet after a marathon they didn't bother me at all. And they are pretty comfy (considering I was running a trail marathon)."
"Comfortable and so far GTX has not disappointed and kept my feet dry in the rain," shared another 5-star fan. "Great colour for winter too."
"These are cute!" a third happy reviewer chimed in. "They run a bit big but I’ll be hiking in these so I plan on just wearing thicker socks with them anyway. I like the bright orange color!"
Even novice hikers will appreciate the breathability of these.
