This Ice Cream Is Covered in 24-Karat Gold
Pop, pop, it’s showtime! But this isn’t Bruno Mars’ version of 24K magic - this is ice cream. Snowopolis has made a shining treat that should be served with a pair of sunglasses.
Soft-serve vanilla ice cream fills a waffle cone that has already been sprayed with gold dust. Then, the soft-serve is covered in 24-karat gold leaves. It kind of looks like tinfoil is covering your ice cream.
The gold leaves, however, aren’t the same as the gold you wear around your neck or in your ears.
“Edible gold must be 23 to 24 carats. It’s not the same gold you find in your jewelry, which may have other metals and can be toxic and dangerous if consumed,” Alexandra Oppenheimer, a registered dietitian, told Food & Wine.
As expected, the dessert is more expensive than your average cone at $14.95. But can you really put a price on all the Instagram likes you’re going to get?
The golden treat only appears to be available in limited quantities at the Anaheim location. But fingers crossed that it expands to Snowopolis’ Montebello, Moreno Valley, and soon-to-be Long Beach locations!
