In 2023, few stars enjoyed a rise quite as stratospheric as Ice Spice’s. When the Bronx-born rapper released her song “Boy's a Liar Pt. 2” with PinkPantheress, it quickly went über-viral on TikTok, eventually peaking at no. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Then, it wasn’t long before everyone from Taylor Swift to Nicki Minaj was clamoring to collab with the hitmaker.
To celebrate such a successful year, Ice Spice showed up to the 2024 Grammys in an eye-catching ensemble that was the visual epitome of a victory lap: a dark denim-on-denim look that consisted of a cropped jacket with shaggy cream fur trim along the lapel and hem, as well as a floor-length skirt with a long train and a center leg slit with a distressed raw hemline. She topped off the look with a large glittering cross pendant necklace and strappy black heels.
Tonight, Ice Spice is nominated for Best New Artist, where she is going up against Gracie Abrams, Fred Again, Jelly Roll, Coco Jones, Noah Kahan, Victoria Monét, and the War and Treaty. For her Barbie soundtrack cut, “Barbie World” (featuring Nicki Minaj and Aqua), Ice Spice also received nods in the categories for Best Rap Song and Best Song Written for Visual Media. Additionally, Ice Spice received a fourth nomination for her appearance on the remix of Taylor Swift’s “Karma,” which was recognized in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category.
