One of the worst things about getting a midnight snack craving is having to turn on bright overhead lighting in the middle of the night. After all, it's incredibly important to remain incognito in situations like eating the very last slice of cheesecake out of the fridge in the kitchen. My eyes are on you, Sophia Petrillo.

You can keep your late-night cheesecake runs mum if you install Ikea's midnight snack light. Is this the smartest thing Ikea has ever invented? Yes, we think so. It even one-ups the life-size version of the tiny pizza saver that that prevents your pie from sticking to the cardboard box.

This lighting also has several benefits, chief among them easy installation. You don't need to hire an electrician to help you install it, because it's easy enough for you to do on your own.

It also saves energy in more than one way. The LED lighting is designed to automatically turn off and on when you close or open a kitchen drawer. It also consumes as much as 85% less energy than incandescent bulbs. Plus, it lasts for a whopping 25,000 hours. That means it would work for 20 years if you used it for as much as 3 hours per day, so it's likely to last even longer.
