Just two years ago I finally splurged on my first pair of Mother jeans. If you’re (somehow) not in the loop yet, it’s the denim brand that stars like Jennifer Garner, Kate Middleton, Reese Witherspoon, and Jennifer Lopez wear on repeat. I have since invested a small fortune in filling my closet with a variety of styles from the L.A. cool-girl line; in fact, I own more than 10 pairs from the brand. Yes, they’re just that good.

As a longtime devotee of skinny jeans (Rag & Bone’s Nina style was my go-to for about a decade), I started off with some of Mother’s skinnier straight leg styles before gradually progressing to wide and pipe-leg silhouettes and boyfriend-type cuts. I’m proud to report that as of writing this, I am fully up to date on denim trends, and have been rocking some of the hottest styles of the season from the brand.

Below, shop the five comfy and flattering Mother Denim picks in my fall rotation.

Mother The Full Pipe Skimp Wide-Leg Jean in Roger That

The Full Pipe Skimp Wide Leg Jean is undoubtedly my number one pick from Mother’s fall 2024 collection. I consider these army green attention getters my cool-girl khakis and have been wearing them constantly since the start of the month. Unexpectedly flattering with a high waist and slightly curved legs, the style looks amazing with everything, from a bodysuit and heels to a white T-shirt and sneakers. The bottoms transition from daytime casual to date night-chic quite effortlessly.

Mother The Spitfire Sneak Jean in Faded Black

Waistlines have been gradually dropping, and while I will never fully embrace the low-rise trend of the early aughts ever again, I am loving the lower slung style of Spitfire Sneak. Loose-fitting with a 32-inch straight leg, the elevated, casual style is both edgy and clean, and looks great with so many shoe styles, including boots, ballet flats, and heels. And, ICYMI, faded black is the new black.

Mother The Dodger Ankle Jean in On Your Left

MOTHER

If you are wanting to try the resurgent trend, The Dodger also sits lower on the hips. This style is everything that attracts me to Mother over the other designer brands: It cradles the butt in the most perfect and flattering way, while still managing to stay relevant in terms of cut and leg style. With a loose straight leg and ankle-length inseam, it pairs well with pretty much any footwear option. A popular style, select from a variety of washes, including On Your Left, a medium blue with strategic whiskering and fading at the knee, or Peat, a faded black.

Mother The Looker Fray Hem Skinny Ankle Jean in Yakkity Yak

Just because I have embraced wider legs doesn’t mean I am not squealing in joy from within that skinny jeans are back for fall 2024—at least according to the New York Fashion Week runway. The Looker is my top pick for an upgraded skinny, with a hip-to-ankle hugging fit in the brand’s oh-so-comfy stretchy denim. Plus, the frayed hem will perfectly pair with some of the season's biggest footwear trends like Mary Janes and ballet flats, but can also look more polished and clean with a pair of ankle boots.

Mother The Insider Step Hem Crop Bootcut Jean in Wish on a Star

A cropped bootcut with a step hem? Yes, please. (A step hem is basically a high-low cut, but for jeans.) I’ve already placed my order for the shearling clogs I’ll be pairing with this craftily cut, high-waisted style that lengthens the legs like an OG bootcut, but with an upgraded edge. The popular pair comes in three washes, including Wish on a Star, a medium blue with whiskering and faded on the knee.
