Take a Peek Inside Frogmore House, Where Harry and Meghan Hosted Their Wedding Reception

Update 04/10/2019: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly moved out of Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace and into Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, a home which shares its grounds with Frogmore House. Below, is a bit of history about the House, which was written in the lead up to Harry and Meghan's reception. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's just jetted off to their evening reception in a vintage Jaguar E-Type. After a day full of celebrating at Windsor Castle, the bride and groom are kicking off the party with 200 of their closest family and friends at Frogmore House. Here's everything you need to know about the gorgeous royal estate.

Who is hosting the event?

On March 22, Kensington Palace announced the venue of the evening reception, and shared that the event would be hosted by Prince Charles. "Later that evening, around 200 guests are being invited to the reception at Frogmore House given by The Prince of Wales," reads the tweet.

What is Frogmore House?

Frogmore House is an official royal residence located in Home Park, not far from Windsor Castle. The estate was originally bought by George III in 1792 as a gift for his wife, Queen Charlotte, and has remained in the family ever since.

In addition to the home, which features decor by 18th-century flower painter Mary Moser, and furnishings from the now-decommissioned Royal Yacht Britannia, Frogmore is also known for its beautiful gardens with over 4,000 trees and shrubs, and the royal Mausoleum where Queen Victoria and Prince Albert are buried.

The space already holds special significance to the soon-to-be bride and groom.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took their official engagement portraits on the grounds of Frogmore House.

This isn't the first royal wedding reception to be held at Frogmore House.

Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly held theirs in the house back in 2008.

The public can only visit a few days every year.

Unlike some of the other royal residences, Frogmore House is very rarely open to the public. If you'd like to see inside the space in 2018, it will be open June 5-7 for charity days, where all proceeds will be donated. In August, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the house is open to pre-booked groups of 15+ people only.
