Inside Queen Elizabeth's Grandson Peter Phillips's Divorce From His Wife Autumn
Update 6/14/2021: A spokesperson for Peter Phillips and Autumn Phillips issued the following statement, confirming that the financial aspects of their divorce have been finalized. Read it in full below:
"Mr Peter Phillips and Mrs Autumn Phillips are pleased to be able to report that the financial aspects of their divorce have been resolved through agreement, the terms of which have been approved and ordered by the High Court today.
Whilst this is a sad day for Peter and Autumn, they continue to put the wellbeing and upbringing of their wonderful daughters Savannah and Isla first and foremost.
Both Peter and Autumn are pleased to have resolved matters amicably with the children firmly at the forefront of those thoughts and decisions. Peter & Autumn have requested privacy and consideration for their children as the family adapts to a new chapter in their lives."
The spokesperson also confirmed that no further comments would be made by the former couple at this time.
Original 2/11/2020: Peter Phillips and his wife Autumn confirmed today that they separated last year after telling the Queen and other family members. They released a statement saying that both families were “naturally sad” about the split but were “fully supportive” as the couple focus on co-parenting their young daughters.
A source said that any suggestion Autumn may move to her native Canada was off the mark, and that they will both continue to live in Gloucestershire and bring up children Savannah, nine and Isla, seven, together.
The couple’s statement read:
“After informing HM The Queen and members of both families last year, Peter and Autumn jointly agreed to separate. They had reached the conclusion that this was the best course of action for their two children and ongoing friendship.
The decision to divorce and share custody came about after many months of discussions and although sad, is an amicable one. The couples first priority will remain the continued well being and upbringing of their wonderful daughters Savannah (9) and Isla (7).
Both families were naturally sad at the announcement, but fully supportive of Peter and Autumn in the joint decision to co parent their children. Both Peter and Autumn will remain in Gloucestershire to bring up their two children where they have been settled for a number of years.
Peter & Autumn have requested privacy and compassion for their children while the family continues to adapt to these changes.”
It was originally not thought necessary to issue a statement when the separation was agreed upon last year as neither Peter nor Autumn are senior members of the royal family. Like his sister Zara, Peter does not have an HRH title after Princess Anne chose to reject titles for her children.
It is understood that the couple told the Queen last fall after discussing the potential split for several months. “Whilst sad at the decision, both families are hugely supportive of them both and the girls,” says a source.
