When it comes to weddings, every little detail counts. And for Eating NYC personality Alexa Mehraban, that mantra was true times two, given that her taste (both food-related and otherwise) was on display at her April 21 nuptials to husband Daniel Matthews, at the Metropolitan Club in Manhattan.

Much like her popular food blog and brand, the 26-year-old social media influencer’s wedding day was scrumptious. Mehraban tells The Knot that, overall, she had a “calm and excited” disposition prior to marrying BioPharm consultant Matthews, 27, and that was due in large part to being very prepared and very aware of what she wanted throughout the wedding planning process—including details down to the most important element of the night: the reception food and cake.

Here, we have more exclusive details about Mehraban’s wedding day, from dress to music to, like Rihanna sang it, “Cake, cake, cake, cake, cake.”

THE VENUE

Both Mehraban and Matthews were born and raised in NYC, and as a result, they wanted the city to play a big part in their nuptials. As such, they decided to hold both their ceremony and reception at the Metropolitan Club in Manhattan, which Mehraban calls “absolutely stunning” but not “overdone.” “The ‘M’ monogramming everywhere made it feel like the venue was made for us,” she tells The Knot.

THE ENTERTAINMENT

To spectacularly light the space, the couple used Allen Dalton Entertainment for everything from the lighting to the music and, even, their cute photo booth. “They took care of everything and most importantly put me at ease. They truly understood our vision of making it a young and fun party,” Mehraban says.

THE CAKE

Importantly, Mehraban made an executive decision when it came to the wedding cake. “Madison [Lee] designed a stunning fake cake with a stitched-in piece to cut out,” she says. “We loved this idea because as Madison pointed out, no one really sits down to eat cake and we wouldn’t want them to anyway. Instead, we had four different cake flavors passed around the dance floor.”

The flavors included a champagne cassis cake with raspberry preserves and vanilla buttercream; a stracciatella with hazelnut buttercream (essentially, a yellow cake baked with chopped dark chocolate); a salted caramel crunch cake; and a matcha-yuzu cake, consisting of almond cake with layers of green tea matcha and lemon yuzu buttercream.

THE FOOD AND CUSTOM COCKTAILS

The couple had two custom drinks to reflect their respective personalities: Danny’s Diablo and Absolutely Alexa. The couple also had a DIY dessert station–a pink candy station to be exact–with custom takeaway bags that read “Love Is Sweet.”

The food-adoring bride also had the couple’s favorite ice cream spot, Milk & Cream, cater their flavors at the reception. “We had two custom flavors ‘Fruity Dream’ by me and ‘Peanut Butter Crunch’ by Daniel,” she boasts.

THE DRESS

Mehraban already had her eyes set on a certain Reem Acra gown months before she started trying on wedding dresses.

“I spotted the dress shortly after getting engaged at a trip to Kleinfeld’s for my cousin’s wedding,” she says. “Months later, I finally tried it on for my own wedding.” The gown was a strapless princess gown with ornate detailing, which she balanced with a super simple veil, minimal jewelry and high wedding heels.

THE BRIDESMAIDS

Both Mehraban and Matthews had a large number of bridesmaids and groomsmen, respectively, that took part in their wedding. Mehraban had 12 bridesmaids, whom she dressed up in gold/champagne looks; Matthews’ 17 groomsmen wore gold bowties to match the bridesmaids’ dresses. (“I wanted their dresses to match the venue,” Mehraban says).

Angela Calisti of Beauty Social Salon gave the girls matching loose waves, while the bride herself entrusted Marianna Faitos with her tresses. Armani makeup artist Danielle Baudanza brought a glamorous bridal beauty look to Mehraban for her special day, while the bridesmaids got primped by Beauty Social Salon.

THE DéCOR

Mehraban kept the decorations for the ceremony and the reception to a minimum in order to highlight the venue itself, with a white runner and flower petals for the ceremony space and a white-and-green theme with the bouquets to match the venue. The floral arrangements were executed by Ariston Floral, while By Invitations handled all of the stationery, including the invites. The paper goods featured a consistent white-and-gold theme, while the calligraphy was masterfully executed by Three Keys Brooklyn.

THE TAKEAWAY

“Make it your mission to stay close to each other during the wedding day,” she concludes. “It can be easy to get separated, and having the same wedding experience is so important.”
