Rapper sends powerful message to his daughter about violence on the streets — with a gun to his head
This viral video on Instagram is initially shocking, but is precisely its shock value that many artists seek to get their message to the masses.
In the video, hip-hop artist GUNJIN kneels in front of his young daughter to offer a final piece of advice as vocalist Dashmylo holds a gun to his head.
Many on Instagram are appalled the two men would do this on the street, let alone in front of a little girl; however, it’s possible that they aren’t listening to the powerful lyrics.

In the description, GUNJIN says first “X” died, referring to the rapper XXXTentacion, who was shot and killed last week. The “Sad!” singer, whose real name was Jahseh Onfroy, had a controversial past that included charges of armed robbery and beating his ex-girlfriend to the point where she “could not see.” He was 20 at the time of his death. It is believed the performer was killed in a botched armed robbery.
XXXTentacion’s song “Changes” is sampled in the video.
The caption also references 15-year-old Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz, who was murdered in the Bronx last week by a violent gang who mistook him for someone else. The teen was dragged out of a deli by five men and attacked with a machete.
GUNJIN raps to his daughter about violence on the streets, a dark reality for many people, especially for children and teens, as they are more likely to be witnesses to violence than adults.
The rapper’s lyrics tell a story about a father who’s been “running the streets,” and “running that beef,” suggesting that he’s made enemies. He tells his daughter that he cares deeply for her, and he doesn’t want her to be scared.
