Internet Calls Ryan Gosling's 'I'm Just Ken' Performance 'Greatest Moment in Oscars History'

Ryan Gosling embodied his Barbie character Ken one more time in order to bring the hit song "I'm Just Ken" to life on the Oscars stage.

Gosling, 43, began his performance while sitting in the audience behind fellow Barbie star Margot Robbie, a black cowboy hat atop his head. As he stood and removed the hat, he revealed that he was wearing a sparkly pink suit, black shoes and dark sunglasses as he made his way onto the stage.

Gosling was joined by some of his fellow Kens from the movie—including Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Ncuti Gatwa—as they brought their "Kenergy" to the Oscars. Even Slash and Wolfgang Van Halen, who both played guitar on "I'm Just Ken" for the film, appeared onstage to help Gosling bring the song home.

The excitement was palpable as Gosling finished the song, with fellow cast members Robbie and America Ferrera singing along as they cheered for him on the side of the stage.

While the Academy Awards audience was hyped to see Gosling's performance, the internet couldn't hold back their excitement at watching the show.

Gosling is "kinda an icon for life,” wrote an ecstatic fan as they tuned in to Gosling singing the popular tune, as another similarly reacted to the performance, saying it made Gosling "a star."

One person declared the song the "best performance" of the night, while another ecstatically dubbed it the "GREATEST MOMENT IN OSCAR HISTORY!!”

The song, written by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, was nominated for Best Original Song, up against Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell's song from the film, "What Was I Made For?", among others. "What Was I Made For?" won the Oscar shortly after Gosling's performance.

Along with this category, Barbie dominated with many other nominations as well, including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Costume Design, while both Ferrera and Gosling received nominations for acting.

At the time the Oscar nominations were first announced, many felt that the movie got snubbed due to the lack of nominations for Robbie's performance and Greta Gerwig's directing.

In a statement reacting to the news, Gosling eloquently said: "There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film."

When she also addressed the snubs, Robbie agreed with Gosling, but she remained positive, saying in an interview, "There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed," via Variety.

Robbie and Gosling led the record-breaking film as Barbie and Ken, which took over the box office—and later, award nominations—alongside Oppenheimer last summer.
