Internet Is Convinced Emma Stone Dissed Jimmy Kimmel at the Oscars

While there were plenty of big moments to talk about at the 2024 Oscars, like Emma Stone's wardrobe malfunction and Ryan Gosling's "I'm Just Ken" performance, some fans couldn't help but focus on a moment between Stone and host Jimmy Kimmel and consider whether or not there might be some bad blood.
At one point during the awards show, Kimmel referenced Stone's film Poor Things along with a short preview of the movie, joking, "Those were all the parts of Poor Things we're allowed to show on TV."
The camera then cut to the audience, where the movie's stars, Mark Ruffalo and Stone, were sitting. While Ruffalo laughed, Stone just smiled before looking towards her husband Dave McCary and saying something.

Because of the angle and timing, some fans thought that Stone was upset at the joke and possibly said something to diss Kimmel, with one person writing on X, "Bruh, celebrities mad sensitive. Take the joke and keep it moving. If not you go up there and host."
Another wasn't a fan of Stone's supposed negative reaction, saying, "I’m sorry but I’m sorry [sic] tired of these celebs getting offended over the jokes."
On the other hand, quite a few people cheered Stone on for her alleged response, with comments like, "she's my spirit animal" and "emma stone is so real for this."
Others attempted to guess exactly what Stone said to her husband, assuming it was an insult, leading one to write, "I love her, but he’s not wrong??," while some called out the people claiming to know what Stone said: "People just creating their own narrative. You can't tell for sure what she said."
"That’s absolutely not what your clip shows. Don’t try and lip read when you don’t even have a full clip of what she said," argued another.
Despite this moment, Poor Things and Stone had an amazing night at the Oscars. The movie took home the awards for Hair and Makeup, Costume Design and Production Design, while Stone won the second Oscar of her career for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role. She previously won in the same category for La La Land in 2017.
