Invincible’s Atom Eve Is Getting a Video Game
Hot off the back of the announcement of Invincible’s season 2 release date, Skybound Entertainment has announced a brand new video game based on comic-turned-cartoon Invincible. There are two games actually — but we’ll get to that.
The headliner here is Invincible Presents: Atom Eve, a gorgeous interactive visual novel that, as the name suggests, is focused on Atom Eve. It looks and feels just like a comic book, which is a very nice touch given the series’ comic book origins, and will have you guiding Atom Eve through balancing her superhero duties with school life, dating, and family commitments.
The game is being developed by Terrible Posture Games, which previously developed The Walking Dead: Last Mile and Mothergunship, and is headed up by creative director Jill Murray. Murray has worked on a bunch of games, the biggest ones being Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
“Atom Eve’s complexity, creativity, and wry sense of humor make her such a joy to build a game around,” Murray said, “I can’t wait to share her powers and unique point of view with players.”
Players will be tasked with making choices for Atom Eve that will reportedly “define the outcome of the story across multiple paths”, and there will be combat too, which is not super common in visual novels. It is a superhero comic book after all, and it wouldn’t be a superhero story without some combat. Invincible Presents: Atom Eve has a Steam listing up right now, but there is currently no release date for the game.
There’s also a special episode of Invincible available on Amazon Prime Video now focused on Atom Eve. It’s not quite an origin story, but it’s not not an origin story either. It’s well worth a watch either way, especially if you’re buzzing for more Invincible ahead of the show’s second season.
As mentioned earlier, there is also another game that was announced over the weekend, Invincible: Guarding the Globe, which is an “idle squad RPG” mobile game developed by Ubisoft. It also doesn’t have a release date, but interested players can pre-register on the game’s website to get a few rewards when the game launches.
