Italo Ferreira Surfs This Wavepool Like a Video Game (Clip)
You know in video games, like the star in Mario Kart, when you become invincible?
Italo Ferreira just got the star. In real life. See below.
The clip comes from Boa Vista Village Surf Club near S?o Paulo, Brazil. And Italo absolutely throws down, stomping back-to-back shuvits, superman airs, air reverses...hence the video game reference. It’s an absolute clinic in stringing combinations together, and a peek behind the curtain at surfing’s (likely) future.
Ensue fire emojis flooding the comments section.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the wavepool at Boa Vista. In fact, we got another clip of Italo at the pool not so long ago, featuring a freakishly perfect tube.
And while the clips have been coming in from this new(ish) wavepool, some are saying this is the best one yet. (To each their own, of course.)
So, what’s the deal with Boa Vista?
It’s a hotel, property development, golf course, etc. For the wavepool, they have PerfectSwell technology from American Wave Machines – the same tech seen at Waco Surf in Texas. The pool is six acres, which is twice the size as Waco. There’s a variety of different waves on the menu – one wave that offers not one, but two air sections, which is pretty much unheard of at other wavepools – and it can allegedly produce between 120-160 waves per hour.
To surf the pool, you have to be a member. Or named Italo.
Stay tuned for future clips from Boa Vista; we’ll surely be seeing more of it.
