Who Is This Stylish Little Guy Making a Splash at Paris Fashion Week?
Though Nicki Minaj no doubt made the biggest splash yesterday at Paris Fashion Week (becoming the latest in a string of individuals pushing a boob-baring version of sexy) there was another front-row attendee catching the hard-to-get attention of social media. The interesting part? He’s under 10 years old.
Revelations at Junya: Justin Bieber is actually much shorter in person.

Sitting front row at shows like Haider Ackermann, Yohji Yamamoto, Dior, and Junya Watanabe, the pint-sized up-and-comer caused a bit of a stir. Fashion critic Alexander Fury joked that he was Justin Bieber, but no. His name: Ivan Zinko. His profession? Designer.

Wearing everything from Dsquared2 to Balenciaga, Rag & Bone, and Vetements, this fresh face doesn’t have a huge following yet, but we don’t doubt that will be changing soon. Though his entry into the industry was courtesy of his London-based Ukrainian mother Natasha Zinko, a designer of fine jewelry and ready-to-wear (the oversized leather jacket he wears is her label), Ivan is likely to carve out his own space in the market.

As is true of most individuals who make a sudden splash on the street style scene, Ivan’s emergence is part of a strategic plan. While he’s in town for the shows with his mom, the tot is also debuting a capsule collection in conjunction with her label. Yep, a fashion line before even a decade of living. Titled Duo, the lineup is for “cool boys and girls.” Seems like he’s his own customer.

From what we can tell, the line includes miniature versions of some smart pieces. There’s a plaid bomber jacket that seems to also have a matching jogger, studded baseball hats and even leather motorcycle jackets. All the pieces check the box for the age-old idea of “cool.” Of course, this isn’t (by far) the first stylish line for babes. We all remember when Tom Ford launched one, no doubt inspired by his growing son. Other brands, like Givenchy, also shouldered their way into the market.

As for child designers, that, too, isn’t unheard of. Let us not forget that it was their experience working with their Wal-Mart line as kids that helped shape Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen into the fashion powerhouses behind The Row that they are today. And has anyone forgotten Life in the Fab Lane? Where Kimora Lee Simmons’s daughters, Aoki and Ming, worked with Jerome LaMaar on their own range. Let’s see how Ivan’s endeavors fare!
