Ivanka and Melania Trump's Women's History Month tweets are not going over well
It’s tough to top the Twitter turmoil created by President Trump, last seen using his 280 characters to lash out at actor Alec Baldwin, whom he called “Alex” in a typo-ridden tweet. And yet both Melania and Ivanka Trump are getting significant backlash over their own social media activity.
Both women commemorated Women’s History Month, which began March 1, with tweets praising the strength and accomplishments of American women.
As we celebrate #WomensHistoryMonth we reflect on women’s incredible contributions to our Nation. We honor women’s legacy of achievements—from pioneering innovations & strengthening our communities to leading in business & politics. Women write America’s proud & thriving history.
— Ivanka Trump (@IvankaTrump) March 1, 2018
March starts #WomensHistoryMonth, a time to celebrate the ways American women have historically changed & continue to shape our society. As we also recognize #RedCrossMonth, we see the result of one woman’s call to action through the humanitarian relief efforts of the @Redcross

The messages may seem innocuous and well-intentioned enough, but both have been flooded with angry responses from critics who say the Trumps are acting hypocritically. Some of the accusations leveled at the first lady and her stepdaughter include a lack of willingness to stand up to POTUS, particularly in light of his sexual misconduct allegations and recent remark that claiming to be a feminist would be “going too far.”
What exactly have you done for women in 15 months? Or what exactly have you done at all? Other than plagiarism

Do you really think WE THINK you wrote this!!! You are nothing more than a scared woman who can’t even stand up to her own husband. The biggest bully out there. Your words mean nothing!!! Your actions are the only things we would ever believe. #DoSomething #WomensHistoryMonth

If only your husband respected woman huh ?

Cool cool, how's that anti-bullying campaign going?

maybe you could explain women's month to all the women your POS husband sexually assaulted! how about inviting them all to the WH for a lovely dinner, maybe crow? #EndCitizensUnited #Resistance #BlueWaveComing2018 #NoWall

While many accused Melania Trump of not doing enough to support women, a few followers worried that her tweet signaled a sudden feminist streak.
Melania, please say OR let us know that with THIS tweet, you're NOT endorsing the Women's Movement and Rights groups???

Ivanka Trump didn’t fare much better, particularly given her recent statement that she believed her father over the women who have accused him of sexual misconduct. Others accused her of being “complicit” and of reneging on her promises to use her White House role to empower women.
And your legacy? Do you think about that? Where, WHERE, are the women you have championed and empowered? Wouldn’t ONE of them have come out to talk about how you have improved her life by now. You don’t get to “champion” this month. You are complicit in this administration.
— AngelaBlueWave (@AngelaBlueWave) March 1, 2018
But you refuse to say if you believe your Father’s accusers #FakeFeminist

Who do you mean by “we?” Apparently you don’t believe your father’s accusers who are women! Who do you honor? PLEASE tell America the women that made a difference for this country and I’m not talking about your stepmother either!

Contributions and achievements that your father is working to strip away. I get that you have no influence on your father on women's issues but by staying you are complicit (google the definition). You yourself pay meager wages to women overseas – not celebrating them much.

You mean like record-breaking Women's March in protest of your father being inaugurated? You mean like the record numbers of women running in the mid-terms to take down the GOP, who are the guard dogs for your father & the Trump Cabal? Yeah…we are writing a special history now
— Just Mary (@BlueHenArt) March 2, 2018
You don’t honor women you won’t even admit your father is a sexual predator
— Mary Smith (@marysmi49303780) March 1, 2018
I call BS! You played the daughter card when asked about daddy's dalliances. You have no standing in history of accomplished women. #RESIGN #TrumpCrimeFamily

While many have defended the Trump women in the comments, it’s hard to ignore the “Kremlin Barbie” insults. But will the backlash spur the most influential women in Trump’s life — who also faced criticism over their Black History Month tweets in February — to take a stronger stance in their support of women?
