Ivanka Trump opens US embassy in Jerusalem in $2000 blazer
On Sunday, Ivanka Trump arrived in Jerusalem to mark the inauguration of the US embassy in the historic city. The first daughter made the trip alongside husband and senior White House advisor Jared Kushner, US Treasury Steve Mnuchin and David Friedman, the US ambassador to Israel.
Ivanka, who converted to Orthodox Judaism after marrying Kushner in 2009, donned an elegant Ralph Lauren suit for the visit to the conservative city. She paired the cream and striped blazer, which retails for $1890 according to the Ralph Lauren website, with a tulle $2490 dress by the same designer and matching nude heels.
The simple palate seems like a departure for the designer, who is regularly seen in elaborate patterns or color blocking.
Yet one Twitter user was quick to notice a possible motive behind the hue's selection, while others saw it as a deviation from the dress codes in the orthodox community. Others viewed the "fancy" dress as disrespectful to everything else that was occuring in Israel during the opening.
Shame on You!!!!!!! Shame on you!!! It’s in Palestinian county occupied by Israel!!! Shame on you! Sitting there in fancy dress smiling while kids are being murdered outside the fence!! Shame on you!!!

Really?? You don’t see that her claiming to be a Jewish Orthodox is another stunt, no more than that? Have you ever seen an Orthodox woman without a tichel? Or wearing a sneath sleeveless dress above the knee?? pic.twitter.com/oS7v1cc17c

@IvankaTrump Children were being shot in cold blood in the street by Israeli snipers while you sat there in your designer dress smiling like a baboon. You disgust me. @realDonaldTrump needs to be impeached as soon as possible before he gets us all killed! https://t.co/0JGjTwOTG4

This is the second time Ivanka has visited Israel while her father has been in office. In May of last year, the first family visited Tel Aviv's Yad Vashem, Israel's Holocaust Memorial. Both Ivanka and Melania donned white for the somber occasion -- yet Melania's outfit drew controversy for her uncovered shoulders at the memorial.
Why didn't someone a State tell Melania to keep her upper arms covered in Israel?

Ivanka's arrival on Sunday has coincided with a series of deadly clashes, where at least 41 Palestinians have been reportedly killed while protesting the opening of the embassy. The Trump administration announced in December they were moving the embassy to Jerusalem, therefore recognizing the city as the Israeli capital.
