J.K. Rowling Just Got a Very Special Gift from Prince William
OK, so we all know that Kate Middleton, Prince George and (soon) Meghan Markle are real-deal royalty, but it feels like J.K. Rowling—the woman behind Harry Potter and literary royalty—should be in that club too, no?
Well, this week, Prince William made it official, dubbing her a Companion of Honor during an investiture ceremony, which recognizes people in the world who have made special contributions to society. The prince himself awarded her with the medal, bestowed upon her for her services to literature and philanthropy.
We’ve got two words for J.K. Rowling: well deserved. And for the royal family, two more: well played. (Come on, it’s only a matter of time before George starts reading book one and begs his parents to send him to Hogwarts instead of Thomas’s Battersea.)
