Jack Daniels Continues to Mix Up Its Fashion Grant Programs

Returning for its fourth year, Jack Daniel’s Tennesse Apple continues for another year of its fashion grant program, Classic Remix.

To bridge the worlds between fashion, culture and spirits, the initiative provides emerging fashion designers a platform to showcase their talent. Through fostering creativity and innovation in the industry, the Class Remix Grant Program invites diverse background designers to participate. In funding this program, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple continues its commitment to fostering diversity and creativity while continuing to inspire the next gen of fashion innovators.

Once designers apply to the program, The New Vanguard team will narrow down the selection to the top eight semifinalists. The New Vanguard is a Chicago-based creative coalition created by Pilar McQuirter, Eric Lopez and Eddie Sanders in 2022 to uplift creatives of color through representation, media production and philanthropy. Afterward, the semifinalists will receive feedback from an esteemed panel of judges to refine their work and resubmit their projects for final consideration.

Chelsey Carter-Sanders, 2022 grant winner for her Alex Carter brand and cofounder of Black Women Are Essential, will lend her expertise to this year’s applicants. The Alex Carter brand was created in 2015 and caters to consumers who appreciate edgy classics. Carter-Sanders has previously partnered with Lexus RX, Lululemon, Converse and HBO Max brands and participated in season 18 of “Project Runway.”

The other two judges are the 2021 previous grant winner and featured Classic Remix designer, Justin Mensinger and fashion designer from last year’s Classic Remix class, Nigeria Ealey.

The $100,000 total cash prize for this fund will be split amongst the top three designers: $50,000 for first place, $30,000 for second place and $20,000 for third place.
