Got juice? I don't mean the boxed kind you sip with a straw; I'm talking amps. Electricity. Power. The kind you need when you go camping or road-tripping, or when a storm knocks out the grid. The kind that can power not only your mobile devices but also small appliances like a fan or mini-fridge.
Jackery makes luggable, lunchbox-style portable chargers in a variety of sizes. For a limited time, and while supplies last, you can snag the Jackery Explorer 240 portable power station for $161, the lowest price on record. It normally sells for $200.
Quick note: If you have Amazon Prime, you’ll snag free shipping, too, anywhere from same-day (!) to 2-day, depending on where you live. Not yet a member? Not a problem: You can sign up for a free 30-day trial here. (And by the way, those without Prime still get free shipping on most orders of $25 or more, though it won't be as fast.)
The Explorer 240 is the smallest (and most affordable) power station in Jackery's lineup. It features two 2.4-amp Type-A USB ports (which can power/recharge just about any mobile devices), a 12-volt DC car port and an AC outlet capable of producing 200 watts.
That last feature is suitable for things like your laptop, a lamp, a fan, a coffee grinder or any similar small appliance. As long as it requires no more than 200 watts, you can plug it right in.
It's hard to say how long the power station will last on a charge, because it depends on how you use it. But Jackery estimates that, for example, you could charge the average smartphone 24 times or run a cooling fan for 15 hours.
To recharge the Explorer 240 itself, you can use either the included AC adapter or Jackery's optional Solarsaga 60 solar panel (currently on sale for $153, also an all-time low), which the company says can bring the power station to 80 percent capacity in under six hours.
I've used various Jackery products over the years and can confirm they work extremely well. But you don't have to take my word: The Explorer 240 earned an exceptional 4.8-star average rating from over 10,000 Amazon customers.
What do you think? Worth grabbing at this price? Or is it worth investing in something with even more power capacity? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
