How did Jada Pinkett Smith respond to the Will Smith cheating rumors?
Did Jada Pinkett Smith cheat on Will Smith? In an interview on TalkShopLive, Jada denied that she cheated on her estranged husband. “I just need people to know, OK, I did not cheat on Will Smith. No matter how sad he looked at that table,” Jada shared. “And when you read [my upcoming memoir], you will kind of get an understanding of why the Red Table even happened in the first place.”
In June 2020, August Alsina went on The Breakfast Club and claimed that he had a relationship with the Girls Trip star for years and that her husband approved of the affair. “I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership that they’ve spoken on several times,” Alsina alleged. “He gave me his blessing.”
He continued, “I really loved a person. I experienced that and I know what that feels like—and some people never get that in this lifetime. So, I know that I am completely blessed. And this conversation is difficult because…it would be hard for people to understand, but once it starts to affect me and my livelihood, I have to speak up about my truth.”
Pinkett Smith later confirmed her relationship with August Alsina on an episode of Red Table Talk in July 2020 with her husband Will Smith. “We decided that we were going to separate for a period of time and you go figure out how to make yourself happy and I’ll figure out how to make myself happy,” Smith said and added that he didn’t know if they would ever speak again. “From there, as time went on, I got into a different kind of entanglement with August,” she said, later admitting it was a “relationship.” “It had been so long since I felt good and it was really a joy to help heal somebody,” she said of her time with Alsina, saying that she wanted to “fix” people instead of fixing herself. “I think that that whole process with Aug really showed me that and taught me that,” she reflected.

We hadn’t figured that out.”
Kotb asked about what exactly made the marriage fracture, “Why it fractured…that — that’s a lot of things,” Pinkett Smith revealed. “By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”
She also talked about the promise she made to Smith. “I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through … whatever,” Pinkett Smith says. “I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”

As for what her three kids Jaden, 25, Willow, 22, and Trey, 30 (whom Smith had with ex-wife Sheree Zampino) think of Pinkett Smith amid all of this, she said, “My children, they’re little gurus. They’ve taught me a deep sense of self-acceptance.” She continued, “They love every part of me. The level of love, unconditional love that they have for me and their dad. And it’s one thing to want to be the person that gives that unconditional love. And then there’s, to be the recipient of that.”
