Jaden Smith Is Sure to Love the Batman Clothes From Undercover
Jaden Smith loves Batman. In 2015, he wore an all-white Batman suit to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding (as well as to his prom). But everyone knows it’s too exhausting to wear a full superhero getup every day. For that, and for Jaden, there’s Undercover Fall 2017.
Smith, already a fan of the Japanese brand, was most recently photographed wearing the Undercover Perfect Day khaki bomber jacket at Shia LaBeouf’s anti-Trump protest, and before that to the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards. But this season’s comic book details make the clothes irresistible bait for the brazen young actor.
Designer Jun Takahashi revealed the menswear collection on Monday — roughly 40 ensembles that complete the “Brain Washed Generation.” Several of the looks feature face masks with the phrase stamped across, serving to reflect a generation muted by mass media and overcome by consumption.

The street-wear brand’s spotlight on conspiracy and rebellion doesn’t stop there, as the theme is literally woven throughout: The phrases “Media is God” and “Human Control System” appear on outerwear and accessories.

Speaking of accessories, the line’s got batlike trapper hats and full bat-winged backpacks. Jaden. Bait.
Think Suicide Squad meets Japanese street wear (a thought sweetened by the fact that Jaden’s father, actor Will Smith, starred in the summer 2016 antihero movie). A copper-colored jacket with beige knitwear beneath it is something you might see on a poorly conceived 2017 David Ayer “Scarecrow.” Flip around to the back for a graphic of President Abraham Lincoln, face distorted by what looks like an Illuminati eye.
And comic book references are replete, as models sport kneepads that are more like part of a 2017 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume than street wear.
We’ll take the Takahashi collection over another David Ayer superhero movie any day.
