Jailhouse Rock event set for Wiscasset Aug. 10
Jul. 30—The Old Jail and Museum in Wiscasset is set to host a Jailhouse Rock event at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at 133 Federal St. The all-ages event offers dancing, food, lawn games, and tours of the jail cells.
There will be an evening of music by the jazz-rock-blues band Leopard Girls, led by musician/composer Gary Lawless.
People can bring their own picnic or purchase food at the jail. Event organizers have partnered with Wiscasset Partners in Education to sell picnic fare at reasonable prices to benefit school programs. In addition, kids and kids-at-heart will participate in games and races, and those interested in glimpsing the austere cells in the 213 year-old granite jailhouse will be treated to brief tours.
Tickets cost $5, children are admitted for free. Jailhouse Rock will be held rain or shine. Visit lincolncountyhistory.org to purchase tickets.
