Jamaican, steak and hot dogs: 6 new spots to grab a bite in South Jersey

There’s a new Jamaican restaurant in town and if the name sounds familiar, it should.

Sun Island Bar-BQ & Jerk has opened a second location in Burlington County, this one in Willingboro.

The restaurant is located at the Kennedy Plaza, where a Taste and Sea restaurant was located but closed. The address is 400 John F. Kennedy Way and is located across the street from the Kennedy Center.

Sun Island Bar-BQ & Jerk opened its first location in Burlington County at 34 Route 130 South, near the corner of High Street and Route 130, in Burlington City.

Sun Island Bar-BQ & Jerk offers “our renowned oxtails and beans, jerk chicken, curry goat and curry chicken,” according to the website, which also advises “if you want to try something new “ask for our infamous honey jerk wings, beef patties or fried breadfruit.”

There is rasta pasta, cornbread, greens, mac & cheese, rice & beans. Dine-in, online ordering, and delivery service are all available.

Randall’s Restaurant, Cherry Hill

The Italian steakhouse opened July 1 and is located at The Legacy Club at Woodcrest.

The 4,000-square-foot restaurant with seating for 246 blends a refined selection of bone-in and hand-cut steaks and chops, traditional Italian classics, fresh seafood, and signature cocktails, according to a news release.

The restaurant features a 2,150-square-foot covered deck that showcases the views of the 178-acre Legacy Club at Woodcrest Golf Course. It also features The Bar at Randall’s — a casual extension of Randall’s Restaurant — featuring relaxed indoor and outdoor seating as well as live music throughout the summer.

Hot dog restaurant coming to Haddonfield

The Borough of Haddonfield Zoning Board of Adjustment granted an application for development filed by applicant Haute Dog LLC regarding property located at 211 Kings Highway East, and designated as Block 15, Lot 9 and 9.02 on the municipal tax map.

The building occupies other businesses, including Earth Eats Co., an organic café and holistic food store, which sells juices, smoothies, breakfast, salads, loaded toasts and more.

Haute Dog LLC was granted site plan waiver approval to occupy approximately 1,500 square feet of space on the lower level of the building and operate an eating establishment that will sell hot dogs and other food items. It was also granted variances to permit one parking space where five parking spaces are required and a vent to be installed in an exterior side wall rather than the roof of the building.

  • Spilt Milk, a new ice cream shop with a retro design, opened on July 5 on Fries Mill Road in Washington Township, according to 42 Freeway. It has unique offerings such as cereal infused sundaes and more.

  • Chipotle has opened at 1805 Mount Holly Road in Burlington Township in a new shopping center. The store features a Chipotlane, modernized drive-thru lane where customers place orders on their mobile apps and pick up.

  • A few doors down, a Wing Stop has opened.

  • Cafe Lift in Haddonfield is constructing a new private dining room, according to a sign on the front of the eatery.
