Jamie Foxx Says He 'Would Not Be Here' Without Sister Deidra
Jamie Foxx is counting his lucky stars that his sister, Deidra Dixon, is in his life.
The Day Shift star, who has recently been easing his way back into the public eye following an unspecified health complication, spoke out this week on social media to deliver a special birthday message to his sister.
"Happy birthday to my beautiful for sister @frequency11 'D'… you are magical you are beautiful you are the courageous lionesses #leoseason," Foxx wrote in an Instagram carousel on Tuesday, August 1, featuring a candid snap of the two siblings posing together.
The Oscar-winning actor, 55, went on to credit his Deidra with his life, writing, "without you I would not be here… had you not made the decisions that you made I would’ve lost my life."
"I love you forever and ever happy birthday sis #swipeleft," he concluded his post, which also featured a series of his sister's selfies.
In addition to Deidra, Foxx also has another sister, DeOndra Dixon, who died in October 2020 at age 36.
But Tuesday's post isn't the first time Foxx has thanked Deidra for saving his life amid his recent medical complications, as he previously expressed his gratitude for both his sister and daughter Corinne Foxx for keeping him "protected" after his hospitalization in April.
"Thanks to them and to God, and to a lot of great medical people, I'm able to leave you this video," Foxx told his followers in an Instagram video on July 22, his first time directly addressing his fans since suffering the mysterious medical event.
"I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in in such a way," he added at the time. "And y'all know they kept it airtight, didn't let nothing out. They protected me and that's what I hope that everyone could have and moments like these."
"I went to hell and back," Foxx said. "And my road to recovery had some potholes as well. But I'm coming back. And I'm able to work."
