  • Jane Fonda shared the simple skincare that keeps her glowing at 83.

  • After spending years in the sun, she has damage that she adamantly moisturizes.

  • “As I’ve gotten older, my skin and hair have become even drier,” she said.

At 83, Jane Fonda has tried plenty of skincare—enough to know what works best. And for her, it all comes down to two crucial steps: hydration and sun protection. “It’s just about keeping my skin from being dry,” the Grace and Frankie star recently told Glamour. “As I’ve gotten older, my skin and hair have become even drier. So keeping moisturized and protected with sunscreen is pretty important.”

The actress is also very experienced in plastic surgery and fillers, but she gave those up a while back in an effort to accept herself fully. “I can’t pretend that I’m not vain, but there isn’t going to be any more plastic surgery—I’m not going to cut myself up anymore,” she told Elle Canada last year. “I have to work every day to be self-accepting; it doesn’t come easy to me.”

In the 2018 documentary Jane Fonda in Five Acts, she said she wished she didn’t feel obligated to go under the knife. “On one level, I hate the fact that I’ve had the need to alter myself physically to feel that I’m OK. I wish I wasn’t like that,” she admitted. “I love older faces. I love lived-in faces. I loved Vanessa Redgrave’s face. I wish I was braver. But I am what I am.”

That said, the star’s current skincare routine is simple. Aside from getting regular facials pre-pandemic from Mila Moursi (“It feels so good and it just awakens your skin,” she said.), there are a few products Fonda turns to on a regular basis.

She keeps cleansing simple.

The actress is a spokesperson for Uncle Bud’s hemp-based skincare, which explains why she loves Miss Bud’s Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser. “If I don’t have a lot of makeup on, though,” she told Glamour. “I’ll use L’Oréal’s face wipes.”

She likes to switch up her moisturizer.

“Catherine Deneuve told me a long time ago, like in the ’60s, that she switched up her skin creams and didn’t always use the same one,” Fonda explained. “And I’ve heard in the subsequent decades from people who seem to be in the know that this tends to be good for you. So I do that—all to avoid dry skin.”

Her favorites are Uncle Bud’s 100 mg CBD Daily Facial Daily Moisturizer, L’Oreal’s Age Perfect Rosy Tint Night Cream, and Mila Moursi’s Triple Actif Anti Wrinkle Cream.

For an extra hydration boost plus protection from blue light damage, she also regularly uses Uncle Bud’s Hemp Blue Light Face Mask.

She keeps her body as hydrated as her face.

Unfortunately, Fonda’s lifetime in the sun has left her with some sun damage on “my lower arms, my lower legs, and my chest,” she told Glamour, which she likes to keep extra moisturized with the cult favorite Weleda Skin Food. On the rest of her body, she uses Uncle Bud’s CBD Body Lotion.

She sees a dermatologist for regular skin checks.

The 9 to 5 star called her young self a former “sun worshipper,” which has taken its toll on her aged skin. In fact, she that she had a cancerous growth removed from her lip in January 2018 after she made press appearances wearing a bandage. That’s why she makes sure to see a dermatologist every six months to ensure no development of skin cancer.
