Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner enjoy 'beautiful dinner' at Camp David for 10th wedding anniversary

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner headed to Camp David on Friday with family and friends to celebrate their 10-year wedding anniversary.

On Saturday, President Trump tweeted about the festivities at the Maryland presidential retreat, writing, “Had a beautiful dinner last night at Camp David in celebration of the 10th Wedding Anniversary of Ivanka and Jared. Attended by a small number of family and friends, it could not have been nicer. Camp David is a special place. Cost of the event will be totally paid for by me!”

The president’s tweet conflicts with information conveyed to CNN by a White House official on Friday. The couple of 10 years would host a "big party with friends," said the official, adding that "expenses at Camp David are covered by the family. Jared and Ivanka will be paying out of pocket."

According to Vanity Fair, which first reported on the event, all of the couple’s siblings were expected to attend the anniversary event.

Camp David is a curious choice for the family event — in 2017, according to USA Today, Trump told reporters, “Camp David is very rustic, it's nice, you'd like it. You know how long you'd like it? For about 30 minutes.’’

During an October 17 press briefing, while announcing plans to host the June G7 summit at a Trump property in Miami, FL., White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said, “I mean, who was here for the last time it was at Camp David? Was that the perfect place? In fact, I understand the folks who participated in it hated it and thought it was a miserable place to have the G7. It was way too small. It was way too remote. My understanding is this media didn’t like it because you had to drive an hour on a bus to get there either way.”

After backlash over whether the location was an abuse of power, Trump backtracked on Twitter, blaming “...both Media & Democrat Crazed and Irrational Hostility.”

Aside from serving as a space for diplomatic events, President George H. W. Bush’s daughter Dorothy was married at Camp David in 1992, and both the Clintons and Obamas hosted birthday celebrations for their daughters at the retreat.

This week, Ivanka posted throwback photos from her October 25th wedding at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster N.J.

On Friday, she posted a love letter-style caption to her husband writing, “Today marks a decade of marriage to my best friend and life partner: 3,652 days, 3 amazing, curious children, countless adventures, ups, downs, laughter, love and pastrami together. Everything about you is real, kind, humble and brave. You inspire me with your calm, stoic disposition and unwavering prioritization of that which matters most in life. You are a dedicated public servant, amazing father and relentless optimist who never confuses a hard problem with one that is unsolvable.”

Ivanka finished by writing, “Everything about me is revealed and known to you. You see all of me and love me for exactly who I am. I can be vulnerable with you, as well as strong and determined. I love you and dream of forever together.”
