Jason Kelce Found His Super Bowl Afterparty 'Transforming' Luchador Mask on The Floor
All eyes were on Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift following the Kansas City Chiefs 11th hour Super Bowl win on Sunday. But as footage of the star NFL player and his pop star girlfriend hitting the afterparties began to make the rounds, Kelce's older brother, Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles, managed to steal the couple's thunder.
This is mostly because Jason—still clad in his Chiefs overalls that he wore to the big game and a Luchador mask, of all things—was seen having the absolute time of his life and didn't care who noticed.
But as it turns out, the luchador mask, arguably the piece de resistance of Kelce's Super Bowl afterparty look, was a happy accident; as he explained on the latest episode of the brothers' New Heights podcast on Wednesday.
"Nobody parties better than Jason Kelce. It was electric, having my big brother around," Travis laughed in the beginning of the segment.
"It didn't start getting to the next level until I found that luchador mask," Jason revealed. "Because initially, when I first got there, you were trying to get me to go up on the stage with you and I was like, 'Nah, I'm gonna be over here, this is your guys' time.'"
"There's something about finding that luchador mask that really just transformed the night," he recalled. "It really did. It was insane."
"The belly dance, it was just the bobbing up and down," Travis said, cracking up. He then pointed out the one video that went viral, in particular, that caught himself and Swift sharing a sweet moment on the dance floor before panning over to Jason dancing with music producer and DJ Marshmello.
"It's a very strong dichotomy of two people in love and enjoying the moment together, panning to a complete neanderthal who is no longer connected with modern day society," Jason quipped.
The 36-year-old then revealed that he actually had found the mask on the dance floor at the first afterparty spot, to which Travis asked incredulously whether he "rinsed it off" first.
"No, where was I gonna rinse it off, Travis," Jason retorted. "You see a luchador mask, you don't ask questions. I for sure thought I was getting pink eye, there's no chance I thought I was getting out of that mask without having pink eye."
"You see a luchador mask, you don't ask questions" is, quite honestly, advice we can all live by.
