Jason Momoa Reveals the Very Different Career Field He'd Be in if He Wasn't an Actor
Jason Momoa has built an impressive career as an actor on the big and small screen over the past decade. But if he had it his way, the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom star might be doing something entirely different with his time.
When reflecting on his life trajectory in an interview with People magazine, Momoa admitted he'd want to be using his voice to make tangible change in the world if he wasn't an actor. "I’d wanna do something to help the environment," he said. "The way the world’s going, I would've, if I was still young Jason, 12-year-old Jason, I'd probably try to do something to get into politics, really fight for our planet.”
He lamented that he didn't plot out a different path for himself back when he was a middle schooler. "If I could go back and be in sixth grade, I would make my life go towards making a change," he confessed.

Of course, one doesn't need to be in politics to spread the word about the importance of caring for our planet. Momoa himself appeared in the 2023 documentary Common Ground, which explores sustainability and the interconnectedness of both our environmental problems and solutions. When thinking about making daily changes in our lives to contribute to the greater good of the planet, he encouraged people to start small.
"I would just start in the home. Like, what are the small things you can do on how to save energy?" he said. "What are we taking in that we can consider, ‘Do we need that?'"
As a Native Hawaiian, Momoa knows firsthand the importance of caring for the land and the realities of climate catastrophe that are already affecting communities around the world. If he ever decided to step into public service, he certainly wouldn't be the first actor to do so; Arnold Schwarzenegger, after all, was a successful two-term governor of the biggest state in the country.
