Jason Momoa's Dream Job Before Becoming an Actor Might Surprise You

Jason Momoa

Jason Momoa just hosted Saturday Night Live for the second time, and during his opening monologue, he opened up about what his dream for his life was before stumbling into acting.

Momoa began enthusiastically talking about how much he loves life, before adding, "I love playing Aquaman. Because I love the ocean." As a testament to that, he went on, "It's true. Growing up, all I wanted to be was a marine biologist."

He then joked, "Which makes sense, because I'm built like a scientist. The problem was, even though I was born in Hawaii, I grew up in Iowa, and [they're] not really known for their oceans."

Although he never got to complete his marine biologist dream, that vision appears to have influenced the path he eventually chose, with Momoa sharing how he now has his own company called Mananalu, which sells water in an "infinitely recyclable aluminum bottle" to work toward eliminating single-use plastic. And on top of that, he is playing Aquaman in the DCEU.

Fans enjoyed Momoa's subdued monologue, with one person writing in the comments on YouTube, "You just can't help but like Jason Momoa. He barely said anything in his monologue, didn't go for big jokes, and it was still great just because of his energy and personality."

Another said, "I believe this is the first SNL host monologue that infused olelo Hawai’i, the Hawaiian language, into it. Maika’i, Jason (well done)! ????????????????????????."

"If he is this enthusiastic about conservation efforts and protecting earth oceans, I am on board with being enthusiastic about the continuation of Aquaman movies," said a third.

For fans of Momoa and his portrayal of Aquaman, the sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, comes out in theaters on Dec. 22.
