Fans of Selling Sunset have labeled Christine Quinn and Davina Potratz as the "villains" of the hit Netflix reality show. Now, Jason Oppenheim—the owner of the brokerage where the successful real estate agents work—is attempting to set the record straight by calling the vitriol "totally unwarranted."

"Christine—she can be polarizing, and it comes across," Jason said in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. "I think Davina can have a kind of rough honesty to her, and I think that comes across. But I certainly think that the type of vitriol out there is totally unwarranted. I mean, these are good women ... and good people and good friends."

Potratz, in particular, was the subject of much scrutiny after she responded to the news of co-star Chrishell Stause's divorce by pointing out that there were "two sides" to every story. (In Season 3, Stause said she was informed that her ex had filed for divorce via text.) However, Oppenheim told Entertainment Tonight that Potratz was "misunderstood."

"I wanted Davina to be at the Oppenheim Group well before she even joined many years ago, because we had done many transactions together," he told the outlet. "We were on the opposite side of several deals. Both myself and my brother did several deals together—luxury condo sales—and she was a very impressive, very professional woman."

"We became friends. I’ve been friends with her ever since. She is a consummate professional," he continued. "I think that she has an honesty about her that I think can be misconstrued ... perhaps misinterpreted. I would certainly say she’s a good woman, for sure. There’s nobody at this brokerage that I wouldn’t say that about."

When asked by Variety last month if Adam DiVello had given her a "villain cut," Potratz said she did not believe the series creator had "intentionally" tried to give her such an edit. At the same time, Potratz made it clear that the show doesn't show her whole self.

"The show doesn’t define me. It doesn’t define anyone," she told the outlet. "It’s not fair. I wish you saw more of my whole personality. I’m very loyal, and funny, and sweet—and maybe that’s not as exciting or interesting. They have other drama to focus on."
