Jenna Bush Hager Embarrassed After On-Air Slip Up on 'Today': 'Oh Gosh'

When you're on live TV on a daily basis, mistakes are bound to happen—and Today co-anchor Jenna Bush Hager can certainly attest to this following a recent on-air slip-up.

On Monday, Nov. 20, the former first daughter discussed how her 4-year-old son, Hal, wanted to dress up with her husband, Henry Hager, as the Trolls characters Guy Diamond and Tiny Diamond. Which is all fine and well—except Bush Hager referred to her husband as "daddy" and instantly turned red.

“Hal wants to be baby Diamond and have daddy be...first of all, I just called him daddy on television,” Bush Hager said on Today With Hoda & Jenna, prompting Hoda Kotb and the crew to start laughing.

Kotb tried to make her feel better by pointing out, "If all the things you said in your own house you said out loud, people would think you're crazy."

“Oh gosh, I just called my husband daddy," a visibly embarrassed Bush Hager reiterated. "I need to be put in some sort of...Is there like a corner where I can go sit for a few minutes just to think?”

Bush Hager has been embarrassed on live TV plenty of times before. In December 2022, her daughter Mila appeared on Today, and Kotb did her best to help the then 9-year-old drop truth bombs about her mom.

"You know when I love her the most, Mila?" Kotb said of Bush Hager. "When she's laughing so hard she can't catch her breath."

To that, Mila shared: "Yeah, one time she was laughing in our living room and she peed her pants! You changed your pajamas!"

"Thank you, Mila," Bush Hager said sarcastically. "Thank you so much."

Mila's final truth bomb was the worst, and she dropped it at Kotb's invitation: "She never wears underwear...she's not wearing it right now! I saw her change."

The bottom line is: It's not Bush Hager's first rodeo with on-air embarrassment, and it surely won't be her last.
