Former president George H.W. Bush was hospitalized over the weekend, causing him to miss out on a Memorial Day parade in Kennebunkport, Maine. The 93-year-old was taken to the hospital on Sunday to treat low blood pressure and fatigue, and will likely be in the hospital for a few days to be observed.

Now, President Bush's granddaughter, Jenna Bush Hager, is opening up about his medical struggles, especially after the death of his wife, first lady Barbara Bush. During a roundtable discussion on Megyn Kelly Today Tuesday, Jenna gave an update about her grandfather’s health.

"He's doing OK, thank you for asking," she told Megyn. "And Megyn, you've been so sweet, writing letters, and really, everybody has. I just can't even express how kind people have been during this time." Previously, President Bush had been hospitalized and placed into intensive care the day after Barbara's funeral; he was treated for an infection that spread to his blood.

Jenna also noted that anyone with aging grandparents deals with the anguish she and her family are dealing with right now. "Everybody goes through it. Grandparents get older, and it's hard because we love them so much," she said. "But also, my girls have gotten to be with him. It's pretty incredible, and I know all of y'all feel that way about your grandparents."

President Bush also spoke out via Twitter, sharing that he was sad to miss the Memorial Day party.

"Very much regret missing the Memorial Day parade today in Kennebunkport," he said. "And am forever grateful not only to those patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice for our Nation - but also the Gold Star families whose heritage is imbued with their honor and heroism."
